Beaverton Educator to Lead New Social Emotional Learning School in Columbia County
Meadowlark Academy is a new social emotional learning program located at Lewis & Clark Elementary in St. Helens. The program will provide intensive social-emotional and behavioral support for 18 elementary-age students this year and an estimated 28 students next year.

STEM Hub Launches Place-Based Collaborative to Enhance Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math Education Among Rural Educators
A place-based collaborative seeks to build community within a specific geographic location. The group includes 23 educators from 23 Clatskanie, Jewell, Rainier, Scappoose, Seaside, Tillamook and Warrenton-Hammond school districts.

How We’re Supporting Students After Traumatic Brain Injuries — And How to Join Us!
Every year, an estimated 13,000 Oregonians experience a traumatic brain injury. Of these, about 100 occur in children under the age of 21. Many children with a traumatic brain injury - or TBI for short - aren’t identified for a variety of reasons. But a TBI can severely impact a child in many ways.

Support Our Students While You Shop: Sign Up for the Fred Meyer Community Rewards Program
The community rewards program donates hundreds of dollars every year to the NWRESD Foundation. Starting this year, part of those funds will go toward supporting a food pantry for students who attend our social emotional learning schools.

Celebrating Native American Heritage Month
Historical narratives told about Native Americans, including the first Thanksgiving, often perpetuate harmful stereotypes and racist ideologies. It is important to set the record straight, acknowledge Native peoples, debunk myths, and recognize Indigenous people as contemporaries.

Retired Health Care Executive Joins Northwest Regional Education Service District Board
Michelle Graham of Scappoose, Oregon, a retired health executive and intensive care nurse, has joined Northwest Regional Education Service District’s board of directors. Michelle serves in the Zone 4 position, which represents Columbia County and parts of Beaverton. She was sworn in on Oct. 9.
