Northwest Regional ESD is an antiracist, multicultural organization. We are committed to equity and the success of each and every student. This commitment means we focus on attaining student outcomes that are not predicted by race, ethnicity, family economic status, mobility, language, country of origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability or ZIP code.

Leaning Into Equity

Watch a presentation by S.Z. Liwaru, our director of equity and family partnerships. The talk is titled "Feeding Two Birds With One Hand" and offers insights about the importance of rethinking our language and idioms, solving problems collectively and advancing equity work on individual and group levels. He shared, "Start where you are. Do what you can. Use what you have."

Antiracist Multicultural Continuum

The following continuum helps us identify the practical steps we need to take in order to live up to our aspirations as an antiracist multicultural organization. This resource was created by former NWRESD staff member and equity leader Yashica Island and adapted from Crossroads Anti-Racism Organizing and Training and John and Joy Hoffman.
