We are committed to connecting component districts with instructionally focused grant application support. Instructionally focused grants relate to supporting instructional programming for students. Examples of these types of grants include:

career and technical education (CTE)
social emotional and/or mental health
culture and climate
reading
math
science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)
arts
instructional coaching
personalized learning
extending the school day or year
multitiered system of supports (MTSS)
professional learning

First Steps:

Identify the Need
- Your grant process may start with the identification of a need for your district and a desire to find a match, or perhaps and opportunity you would like to pursue.
Identify Partners
- Consider who in your district or your community should have a seat at the table.
Establish Project Leaders
- Decide who will champion this grant for your team.
Obtain Internal Approval
- Ensure have been given authority to apply for this grant by whatever process is relevant to your district or department.

Informational Support

Regional Resource Hub

The first option of support is idea sharing and resource connection. Obtain feedback on your project idea, learn about potential funding options, and see what other districts are pursuing.

This level of support offers information and resources compiled by NWRESD for districts to access without formal assistance or guidance.

Technical Support

Connection and Consultation

Building upon the informational connection, this support option uses NWRESD as your resource connector and consultant. Districts may ask for research into potential instructionally focused funding opportunities based on idea or need, or ask for assistance developing their project ideas for an open RFA/RFP they wish to pursue. This option of support would be at the beginning stages and would leave the application writing and submission to your school district team.

Refining Support

Editing and Review

This option leaves the planning and narrative writing to your school district's team, but NWRESD will provide feedback and editing assistance on your narrative before you submit the grant. This option may be chosen based on district need, or used when NWRESD is at RFA/RFP capacity.

Comprehensive Support

Integrated Writing and Development

This is the highest level of grant application support NWRESD offers.

NWRESD's grant developer or a contracted writer will help you through the entire RFA/RFP process: from idea cultivation to application breakdown, writing, editing and submission.

* Districts will be responsible for reporting, but technical troubleshooting and assistance can be provided.

What parts of the grant process can the developer help me with?
The grant developer assists school districts in applying for grant opportunities. You might have an instructionally focused project that you need financial support for but not be aware of the types of grant funding opportunities that are available. The grant developer can help find applicable funding sources and help you apply for them, should a funding opportunity that fits your needs exist. Or, there might be a grant you are aware of that is currently accepting applications or is about to accept applications. The grant developer can also help you apply for these types of opportunities based on capacity.

Depending on workloads, the grant developer might be able to assist you with the entire application process, or they might be able to assist you with part of the project. Please see the levels of support listed in the section above this FAQ. In high volume times of year, you might also be paired with a contracted writer if the grant developer is not available to assist you in applying for an open RFA. All grant assistance provided to you by NWRESD is offered to districts without additional charge.

NWRESD's grant development services are for grant application support only, unless you are a small/rural qualified district. Once awarded, school districts will be responsible for participating in grantee meetings, managing the grant, and reporting to funders. Small/rural qualified districts my request additional capacity support with reporting. Small/rural support is an included option within the grant request form.
