As you plan for the upcoming academic year, we wanted to steer your attention to Oregon Virtual Education (ORVED), a virtual education program that caters to the various needs of students across Oregon. COVID-19 has taught us that education has to be reimagined to serve ALL students! ORVED is and could potentially be for your district, taking care of students who need the flexibility and the platform to access education at their own timeline and comfort. The program is self-paced and flexible within the parameters specified by state law.

In partnership with Northwest Regional ESD, ORVED offers Oregon students access to high-quality, standards-based courses through a suite of online course offerings taught by Oregon teachers.

Students have the option to enroll in ORVED courses for enrichment, credit recovery, or flexibility while remaining in their local school district. ORVED is a supplemental program, not a full-time charter school. ORVED offers core courses as well as advanced placement and electives.

  • I love the autonomy ORVED gave me to follow my passion (horses) and I’m very grateful I found it, as it allowed me to do both in-person and online and still graduate.
L.S., Student at Portland Public Schools, 12/01/2022
  • For a number of years, Knappa School District has used ORVED to provide course options for high school students. With the small size of our school, ORVED has helped us expand our limited offerings and provide credit recovery.
