The main responsibility of the board of directors is setting policies for Northwest Regional ESD. The board supervises the Superintendent, who in turn hires staff and leads the organization. Board members also:
Advocate on behalf of students, families and communities in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook and Washington counties
Guide collective bargaining with ESD employee groups
How much time is required?
Board members are elected to four-year terms and typically gather once per month for a regular meeting. Board members are expected to come to the meeting having reviewed the agenda packet and prepared to fully participate in discussion and decision-making. Additionally, board members participate in committee meetings, work sessions, executive sessions and visits to various school district sites and programs throughout the year.

The NWRESD Board of Directors represents five (5) zones throughout Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, and Washington Counties. School boards from our component districts within each zone vote for their preferred candidate. View the latest map of our board zones.
Zone 1: Gaston, Sherwood, and Tigard-Tualatin School Districts
Zone 2: Astoria, Banks, Forest Grove, Jewell, Knappa, Neah-Kah-Nie, Nestucca Valley, Seaside, Tillamook, and Warrenton-Hammond School Districts
