Meriwether is one of five private locations that Northwest Outdoor Science School contracts with each year to provide an Outdoor School experience for the 10,000 students in 23 districts and nearly 100 schools across the Metro area. Meriwether is one of our two beach sites located south of Tillamook.
All site locations are privately owned by local Oregon organizations. Northwest Outdoor Science School, a program of Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) contracts with each site for 18 weeks a year (6 weeks in the fall, and 12 weeks in the spring) to provide an outdoor school experience to Oregon fifth or sixth graders.
Each site has a highly qualified staff team, which includes a site supervisor, a program facilitator, a field instructor facilitator, an equity and inclusion advocate, several field instructors, and several program leaders all employed by NWRESD. All staff undergo an extensive background checks and a wide variety of training to ensure that students have an amazing four-day, three-night outdoor school experience.
