The NWRESD board of directors represents the diverse needs of our 20 component school districts and their communities. They set our vision for educational excellence, hold us accountable to the communities we serve, and help us build partnerships based on trust, teamwork and shared responsibility for our region's children and students.

Community Gathering for the Native American Heritage Month Board Meeting Proclamation

We invite the community to come together for the proclamation of the October Board Resolution ahead of Native American Heritage Month recognition, action and celebration. 

Sharif Liwaru, the director of equity and family partnerships will speak and will introduce the featured speaker, Steph Littlebird, an artist and curator. 

Steph Littlebird is an artist, curator, writer and a registered member of Oregon’s Grand Ronde Confederated Tribes. A widely published writer, she is currently writing a series about Indigenous Resilience for Oregon Arts Watch Magazine with the support of the Oregon Cultural Trust. As an artist, Littlebird’s work combines traditional aesthetics with contemporary materials and subject matter to forge connections between our collective past and imminent future.

If you would like to provide public comment at an upcoming meeting, please submit your public comment request at least one hour prior to virtual meetings.

Public Comments are limited to three (3) minutes per speaker. The speaker will be invited into the virtual panel to present their public comment.

The Board does not respond to public comment during its meetings; however following the meeting the Chair, Vice Chair, and Superintendent will together determine the appropriate level of response. Speakers may offer objective criticism of district operations or programs, but the Board will not hear complaints concerning specific district personnel.
