Oregon public schools test students in English language arts and math in grades 3 through 8 and 11 and science in grades 5, 8 and 11. Additional required assessments include an English language proficiency assessment for English learners (ELs) and the Oregon Extended Assessment for students with significant cognitive disabilities.

Although it is the parent or guardian's right to request opt-out/exemption from state testing for their student(s), we encourage parents to allow their students to test. The information our district and schools obtain from state test results are used to help us improve our teaching. Students do not pass or fail these tests. The tests simply indicate to us where and how we need to improve instruction. The school-level results are reported publicly and form the basis of the school ratings and report cards.
