This pathway is often referred to as the “traditional pathway to teaching” and ends when participants receive a teaching degree. It takes between 4-6 years to complete.

Step 1: Enroll in a community college or 4-year university

Step 2: Enter into a teacher preparation program

Step 3: Graduate with your bachelor's and/or master's degree, along with your teaching license

This pathway is designed for district staff who want to become teachers. This pathway takes between 2-4 years to complete.

Step 1: Enroll in a 4-year university

Step 2: Enter into a teacher preparation program

Step 3: Graduate with a bachelor's and/or master's degree, along with your teaching license

This pathway is designed for district staff with a baccalaureate (bachelor’s) degree. This pathway can take between 1-3 years to complete.

Step 1: Enroll in a 4-year university

Step 2: Enter a teacher preparation program

Step 3: Graduate with a master's degree and/or endorsement and your teaching license

This pathway is for people who are specialized in a career technical education (CTE) subject area but aren’t employed by a school district. This route can take 1-2 years to complete.

Step 1: Enroll in a CTE licensure program

Step 2: Graduate and complete Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) requirements

Step 3: Receive professional CTE license
