We recommend fifth or sixth grader students participate in JA BizTown. JA BizTown curriculum is aligned to fifth grade standards. Here is the link to JA BizTown overview.

Schools can bring fifth grade every year, or fifth and sixth grade every other year. 

Finance Park is the high school program of Junior Achievement. Here are some details about the program:

• Teachers get 13 lessons: 12 are to be taught before the field trip simulation day, and 1 is to be taught as a debrief after the simulation day

• The teacher would get the curriculum in paper and digital copies

Finance Park Simulation Day

JA Finance Park is recommended for 9th - 12th grade students. Some school groups bring 8th grade students who have significant time and capacity for curriculum implementation and preparedness. Schools can choose to bring a certain grade level each year, or certain classes each year. 

The cost is $20 per student.

Yes. Teachers are required to complete a 1-3 hour training and we are planning virtual and in person options.

It is recommended that all teachers attend training during the 2023-24 school year because of the new curriculum and new site.

For the 2024-25 school year, if 50% or more of the school teachers participating are trained, they can train any new teachers.

Yes, 12 lessons are required to be completed before students attend the simulation. 

These lessons are aligned to state standards. Our NWRESD team is committed to supporting teachers in lesson preparation and delivery. 

Yes! NWRESD is committed to supporting schools and teachers find and train enough volunteers to successfully participate in the program.

Junior Achievement is opening a new location at the Hillsboro Civic Center. The Hillsboro Discovery Center will be open for BizTown and Finance Park programs in the 2023-24 school year. Please see the visual overview of the new space.

Our team has been communicating with Superintendents and Principals regarding this new location and the option for NWRESD schools to use ESD service credits to fund this program. Please check with your Principal or Superintendent for more information on this.
