On April 27, our Career and College Readiness team co-hosted a career fair for Columbia County high school students at Portland Community College’s OMIC Training Center in Scappoose. More than 150 students from Clatskanie, Rainier, Scappoose, St. Helens and Vernonia participated.

In his new role, John will oversee more than 50 staff and a dozen educational programs, including outdoor school, a variety of professional learning initiatives, the migrant education program, STEM Hub, career and college readiness initiatives, attendance services and school safety programming.

The idea for the playgroup was born during the pandemic when children were isolated and were not getting the chance to interact with other children. Research also shows that every child benefits when classrooms are inclusive of children with and without disabilities.
