The Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) operates alternative educational programs on behalf of its component school districts. While the NWRESD provides these educational programs, the responsibility for the overall education of students placed in NWRESD alternative educational programs by school districts remains with those school districts.
The NWRESD shall work cooperatively with participating school districts to design effective alternative educational programs, including curriculum, instructional practices and student discipline procedures.
The NWRESD may remove students from its alternative education programs for disciplinary reasons and remand those students back to their component school districts. Further, the NWRESD may recommend further disciplinary action to component school districts. The NWRESD cannot expel students placed in NWRESD programs by component school districts. The NWRESD alternative education staff will
cooperate with component school districts in any expulsion matter involving students served by the NWRESD.
