Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) administrators or teachers may detain a student for disciplinary reasons after school hours, provided the parent has been notified of the detention and, in the case of bus students, arrangements have been made for the student’s transportation home. In cases where transportation is required, 24-hour notice will be given, so that transportation may be arranged.

Parents may be asked to arrange for the transportation of the detained student; however, if appropriate arrangements for transportation cannot be arranged an alternative disciplinary procedure must be substituted.

Students who are detained after school must not be left alone during their detention. Their supervision must be provided or arranged for by the teacher or administrator who detains them.

The NWRESD staff working in component school districts, their students and parents shall comply with local district policies and procedures.
