Orig. Code(s): JFCA
Responsibility for dress and grooming rests primarily with students and their parents. Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) expects student dress and grooming to meet standards, which ensure elimination of the following conditions:
- Disruption or interference with the classroom learning environment;
- Threat to the health or safety of the student concerned or of other students;
- Any attire which has as its intent the advertisement or promotion of anything illegal.
When dress or grooming disrupts or interferes with the learning process for the individual student or students or endangers the health or safety of members of the school community, it may become a disciplinary matter.
Students who represent NWRESD in a voluntary activity may be required to conform to dress and grooming standards approved by the superintendent and may be denied the opportunity to participate if those standards are not met.
