The purpose of field trips and other special events is to extend the instruction taking place in the classroom. A special event is an on-campus function during school time that alters the regular schedule for students. A field trip is an off-campus activity attended by Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) students that is sponsored by NWRESD. All students must have signed parental permission to participate in field trips. In planning and authorizing field trips, primary consideration will be given the educational values to be derived and the safety and welfare of the students involved. 

All out-of-state travel must have prior Board approval. Such approval is predicated on an acceptable plan for travel arrangements, parental involvement, orientation of students and supervisors and support of the appropriate administrator(s).
