The superintendent or his/her authorized representative may close school when he/she deems it necessary due to inclement weather, bomb threats or other unforeseen circumstances of an emergency nature. The specific provisions governing the application of this policy will be contained in administrative regulation EBCD-AR - Emergency Closures, applicable collective bargaining agreements and staff handbooks.
The superintendent will develop and maintain such plans and procedures as are necessary to carry out alternate school and bus schedules.
Students, parents and staff will be informed at the beginning of each school year of the procedures that will be used to notify them in case of an emergency closure.
This policy does not prevent the Northwest Regional Education Service District (NWRESD) from closing programs due to lack of funds as determined by the Board, or in the event of a work stoppage.
