Outdoor school is an extension of the classroom – it provides students the opportunity to learn in the great outdoors for four days and three nights. Students immerse themselves in hands-on, engaging lessons with their peers, our educators, student leaders and educators from their schools at one of our five beautiful sites.
At Outdoor School, safety is our highest priority. We take many precautions to ensure students are comfortable, healthy and safe while they participate in outdoor school. View our minimum Safety Measures.
The daily schedule includes activities that occur outside in a wide array of weather conditions. When the weather is especially adverse, we utilize rain shelters and dry rooms. Students sleep in winterized, heated cabins.
An on-site nurse manages health concerns and oversees medications and provides treatment as necessary.
Should an emergency arise, students will either be transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital or a legal guardian will need to transport them off-site.
Additionally, we follow the Oregon Health Authority’s Too Sick for School guidelines. If your student has any symptoms listed, we will contact you to pick them up as soon as possible.
