Our Services
The Blind & Visually Impaired Program at NWRESD serves approximately 180 students birth to age 21 who experience low vision, are blind or are DeafBlind. Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) provide instruction, consultation, evaluation and professional development throughout our four-county region. Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialists instruct students in safe, efficient and independent travel. Our braillist provides braille services to several districts. Districts may contract with NWRESD to provide braille services.

Every year, an estimated 13,000 Oregonians experience a traumatic brain injury. Of these, about 100 occur in children under the age of 21. Many children with a traumatic brain injury - or TBI for short - aren’t identified for a variety of reasons. But a TBI can severely impact a child in many ways.
